The NFL is considering a rule change in the coming weeks that would outlaw hair long enough that it interferes with the name plate on the back of a players jersey. What are your thoughts? Should this regulation pass?

Well whAT ARE YOUR thoughts?(damn caps key, I aint used tu this small apple keyboard yet. I love it tho)

I have been waiting to see someone get tackled by his curly locks for a while now. To me it goes against team concepts because by adding a handle to your body(and a quite convenient one at that) you are essentially taking away from your physical integrity while giving an advantage to your opponent. You'd think that teams/coaches would have put their foot down on this a while ago.

Free agency once again changes the way the game is played. Teams don't wanna tic off a star by telling him to cut his hair or else.
They know word would spread that coach so and so made Mooky Cholo-Stein cut his poodle-mullet off, make sure y'all don't go take any FA trips THERE. Or if ya do, just make sure ya don't sign with em. Solidarity! Just remember what happened to Sampson when HE cut HIS hair.

Well I think they (the nfl)have LET it go too far by not nipping it in the bud. We'll see what the reaction is to keeping it tucked in up under their helmets.

I can see it now. "Mullet visible, 5 yards plus loss of down"

My thoughts: A) having long hair would hurt to be tackled by. B) It would be easier to be tackled as such. C) It covers up your name. D) You look like an animal out there (not necessarily a good or bad thing. E) You need to wear an EXTRA large helmet.

I couldn't agree with Fish Fiend more.......I remember when Ricky Williams got tackled by his dreads once, and it was TD if he didn't give the DB a "2nd. option".Cutting his off is about the only smart thing he's done since he's been in the league.

That is crazy isn't this a little too far fetched? Do they have to have a clean shave too for the camera LOL.
Seems like someone just wants more exposure for marketing. Just my opinion.

Cons? I have seen many business men with long hair, which they have never been behind bars, Let me rephrase that I am sure they were behind the ones that serve the drinks! Cheers

I think this rule is a good rule. I don't even think that it looks good to have the players have long hair and to block the names on the jerseys doesn't look good either.

well in my view there may be a lot of negative effects of long hairs but still i feel that players should not be forced for obeying any such rule.

it is a competitive advantage to be able to grab someones hair.

Oh yeah this is a good observation:p :D The player should have a decent mane,at no point of time it should outgrow and hinder the norms of the real proper game.

My viewpoint is that these guys make several million dollars a year. It's football, not a knitting class. :D If someone gets his hair ripped out of the roots on a tackle, my sentiment is that he deserved it. It's no different than getting an ankle twisted or an arm broken. Let the boys play, I say. :D

Does anyone know if that was THE RULE that was made? Players can have the locks they just have to keep it under their skid lids?

I know if the league made a rule like NO long hair there would be ALL KINDS of legal maneuvering and what not. There's be more lawyers on that than you could shake a stick at.

i think NFL is considering a good point as long hairs have a lots of disadvantages. It not only creates problem for players but also makes it difficult to identify them from back.
