I am a HUGE Packers fan and needless to say that last couple of days have been surreal. I'm still not sure if he actually is going to stay retired or not. (Delusional, yes...crazy, yes. :) ) He truly will be missed. He was the heart and soul of Wisconsin.

But now we must push forward. What do you guys think that the Packer's chances are without Brett at the helm? For that matter, how well do you think Aaron Rodgers will fare as his eras now begins?

Yesterday, Aaron Rodgers held a press conference and stated, "I'm in a good situation," Rodgers said. "I've got a great team around me. A lot of people are focusing on what I'm going to do. It's what the team is going to do, really. I'm an important part of that, I know my role, and I need to play well."
He then said, "I'm not Brett Favre, and if they're wanting me to be the next Brett Favre, I'm not going to be him," Rodgers said. "I'm Aaron Rodgers. That's who I am. I'm going to be the best quarterback I can be."

His teammates also have said that they are very confident in him. I think that's important more than anything else for the Packers. They have all the guys that they need to make a run at the playoffs, but it will depend on whether they can channel that talent into a play caliber team.

Yes, it was sad to see Brett Favre leave the Packers. He was one of the great quaterbacks and a really nice guy. Good luck to Rodgers, he's right, he is in a good situation. It will be an interesting season.

The story goes that on the morning Brett retired, Aaron Rodgers woke up to 18 messages on his cell phone. He said, "I knew that either someone died or Brett had retired." When they asked him what he did next, Rodgers said, "I went back to sleep. I was tired." I think this a funny story. I hope it is a sign that Rodgers is not going to back down. He won't feel intimidated going into one of the toughest positions anyone has ever gone into.

Good luck to brett and rogers......

I hope moss not signing with green bay had nothing to do with him retiring.

His agent said that it was a huge factor. Brett on the other hand told us that it had NOTHING to do with it. He was even upset that the press would insinuate such a thing. Since he's done so much for us Packer fans over the years, I believe him. On a side note: I think we should have went after Moss as well.

Great guy, great player, would've loved to have seen him get one more crack at the Super Bowl, but he got his ring. He's a living legend.

Ah yes, Dave Wannstedt! What an idiot by the way. Yes, Brett's retirement is sad, but at least we don't have a worthless coach. I trust McCarthy. He's young and makes mistakes, but overall he is doing a great job.

Here's a pretty funny article. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3295344

It's a bunch of funny quotes that people *supposedly* said in reaction to Brett Favre's retirement. I like the one about his friend's and the backyard game of football the best. Deanna's reaction is pretty good as well.

It was bound to happen sometime. You can't expect a 345 year old Robo-Brett Farve to be lacing up the shoes getting ready for his 426th season.

Although the very idea of that is freakin' sweet and needs to be done.

The Packers can be successful with Aaron Rodgers. I think he's better than anyone will know until he plays a few games. He's been stuck behind Favre longer than he needed to be. I'd bet he could have started and won with many other teams last year.

The Green Bay Packers without Brett Favre is like a root beer float without the ice cream. :) It's funny to look back on his career and see all of the things he accomplished. I wonder how many people actually remember the days when he was an Atlanta Falcon? Now Aaron Rogers gets a chance to take the reins of the proud Packer franchise. He's had time to sit and learn behind one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Let's see what happens when Rogers takes that first snap.

I definately see Aaron Rogers becoming a good QB. He's had enough time to watch Farve and have him learn the ins and outs of leading the Packers to the playoffs.

Well, at least Brett didn't leave with 2 guys like Damon Huard or Jay Feidler
to take over the job........oh...where's my advil....?

Well, there will be plenty of eyes from the San Francisco Bay Area watching the Green Bay Packers this year to see how Aaron Rogers does. When the 49ers drafted Alex Smith, there were many fans who thought it was the wrong move and would have preferred that Rogers wear the crimson and gold. Over the past 4 years, Smith has been crucified by some fans for not producing for the team and if Rogers does well for the Packers, it'll just add fuel to the fire. Funny how that works out.

To be fair, look at the team Alex Smith is on. You can't expect magic out of that core. The 49s need a bit more than just a number one draft pick to pull them out of the slump they are in.

Aaron Rogers is not the answer. G.B. will have to go back to the basics. I think they made Favre come to a decision earlier than he would have liked. Marino and Elway would have never been put to that test because their respective CITIES liked them too much. The executives in G.B. messed up. Favre? We'll see you as you tour the NFL, just like Jerry Rice.
