Here around Knoxville,TN they were talking about this "new" football league starting in April.Anybody here familiar with this new league?
How many teams?..Where are they...? 100 yard field?...11 0n 11?...etc.

Is the AAFL meant to compete with the NFL on some level, or is it something else entirely?

I don't believe it's on the same level, the draft was in January, I found out
more about thru Google, it has a website:
allamericanfootball.com(won't let me post a link til I have 20 posts!LOL!)

There are 6 teams...Alabama,Florida,Tennessee,Texas,Oklahoma, and
Michigan.I noticed 90% of Florida's team are former Gators and Shane
Matthews is the head coach, not to mention quite a few FSU players as
well (Peter Warrick is on their roster)I think they had a draft in January,
but I'm not sure who was eligible to be picked.Maybe guys who were drafted can also be drafted by the NFL too, and they can choose their best option.
I was thinking it might be the same difference as a "Minor League" baseball
team, but I believe it's totally independent from the NFL, but players will get
a chance to show their skills like they did in NFL Europe. The games start in early April and they play each team twice (home and away).10 game schedule.CAN YOU SAY FANTASY FOOTBALL IN APRIL?

Yes its great to know this, but i also share the same view that it would not be of same level as it was earlier.

Do you guys remember the XFL? That was Vince McMahon's demon child. I really enjoyed the skits before the game and mad dash to get the football at the 50. But it wasn't all bad was it? That's where we got 'He Hate Me' afterall.

Now the website is reporting they need someone to come
in and save the season this year, or the league will have to wait
'til 2009.Too bad, I was looking forward to football in spring.

Don't see any "savior" appearing out of no where, to preserve
the '08 season this soon. They should have cried "mo money"
a long time ago.

Worry not Pizza Boy...for football still happens year round. Besides the Combine, the Draft, and live looks into NFL training camp, there is always Arena football and the many and various semi-pro leagues out there. I realize that they aren't the caliber of the NFL, but they are definitely still alot of fun to a true football fan.
